Please read and follow these instructions to learn how to care for your sofa and make sure you make the most of it over time!
Please follow the assembly instructions provided with your sofa.
If you have a chaise or two piece sofa, please make sure all support legs are included and installed. If you are missing support legs please contact us and we will send out extras at no cost to you.
When you receive your sofa, you will notice it already has some level of scarring, variance of grain, colour and even texture. These marks are completely normal and should be expected on any natural leather sofa.
Our leathers are semi-aniline, aniline and nubuck variations, all of which are naturally tanned leathers. To achieve these beautiful natural finishes, the hides can only be slightly pigmented, and therefore offer very low degrees of stain protection.
Any form of abrasive rubbing or chemical cleaning will potentially mark these types of leather. The best method of cleaning is to wipe over the surface with a dry microfibre or white cotton cloth. If you stain the leather you will need to have it professionally cleaned, but even then some stains will not be removable.
All leathers will soften and loosen up over time. Natural stretching and variations in colour are all naturally occurring results and will make your sofa look and feel even more comfortable
To care for your leather sofa we suggest the following:For major spills or stains, please contact a professional cleaning company.
If you would like to use a leather kit to help maintain the leather, the only one that should be used is the Secret Sofa Care Kit. If you use a leather care product on your sofa, please spot test it on a hidden part of the leather prior to using to ensure you will be happy with the final finish.
Do not use any aftermarket cleaners or leather protectors other than what is listed above, as this can harm the sofa and nullify your warranty. Some universal cleaners state that they can be used on leather, this is often incorrect.
All woven fabrics used on Secret Sofa sofas go through stringent testing prior to use. Our fabrics pass the internationally accepted Martindale test for domestic use.
Almost all fabrics, no matter the quality, have the potential to pill with use.
Pilling is not covered by our warranty. However, it can be easily resolved with the use of a 240v pilling machine, available to purchase here: https://www.fabriccare.com.au/classic-50-fabric-shaver
Occasional use of the previously recommended 240v pilling machine is an inexpensive, but very effective way to ensure your sofa stays looking brand new, in any instances of pilling.
Velvets follow the same maintenance routine as woven fabrics.
To care for your sofa we suggest the following:
